Vietnam Fisheries receives IT boost,
Hanoi and all Vietnam coastal provinces, starting at 04/2000
The monitoring of Vietnam’s vital fish-stocks received a boost
today with the signing of two IT contracts between i3 (with
previous management board of IndochinaNet) and Fisheries Sector
Programme Support, Ministry of Fisheries (MoF) - DANIDA. Valued
at almost US$500,000 (VND7.5 billion), the contracts provide for
the construction and maintenance of a Wide Area Network (WAN)
linking MoF offices in 28 coastal provinces to the Research
Institute for Marine Products (RIMP) in Hai Phong.
In addition to the WAN, we supply computer and networking
hardware, PC and server software and peripheral devices,
together with training packages and ongoing maintenance.
The upgraded infrastructure make high-speed data transfer
possible between MoF’s provincial collection stations and the
RIMP in Hai Phong, significantly reducing the current time lag
between data collection and collation and analysis.
