Network Consultant
|
Responsibilities:
- Report to the VP Information Systems
- Provide network technical advice to regional customers and network support to internal customers
- Evaluate and recommend network elements, services and the products required for an e-commerce infrastructure
- Evaluate and recommend telecommunications options, data communications protocols and other network application system procedures
- Provide rapid and complete solutions to technical problems experienced by external and internal customers
- Evaluate and analyze information processing requirements, plans and procedures and transform them into network requirements
- Analyze and resolve network performance issues in an e-commerce environment
- Evaluate network products such as firewalls, caching and load balancing technology
- Install and utilize Network Management Systems and Network Monitoring Agents for performance monitoring, tuning and traffic analysis
- Produce high-level and detailed network design documentation
- Coordinate application and business requirements regarding network design
Requirements:
- Diploma or degree with 1 to 3 years experience in network implementation, IP networking and Unix administration
- Experience in resolving network and data communication problems
- Experience in data communication networking and equipment configurations (e.g. Frame Relay, Lease and dial line circuits, modem configurations, Passport, DSD)
- Expertise in network performance tuning
- Knowledge of network architecture platform constraints and their affect on database performance, throughput and availability
- Effective management of multiple tasks and priorities
- Strong communication skills both written and oral
- Team player
- Willing to travel
